Behind the CurtainsLet’s take it back to the basics of chemistry. We know that the basic form of everything is called an atom. According to nuclearfiles.org, atoms are “The smallest particle of matter that can have the properties of a chemical element” They can be found in 3 states: solid, liquid, and gaseous. Because they form the ‘everything’, atoms have the most important role in nuclear weapons. So, in a bomb what happens is that the explosion is caused by a change of the atoms; they are either split or fused together creating a chain reaction while resulting in a mass radiation of energy.
